When One Batch Isn't Enough
Some distillers want to test a gallon. Others want to fill barrels. The 50 Gallon Advanced Model is for the second group. It's a complete copper distiller with a 50 gallon pot, a 10 gallon thumper and a 10 gallon worm, sized for a licensed small distillery or a serious permitted fuel alcohol project.
Matching the Still to the Spirit
- Bourbon-style and rye whiskey: grain mashes are bulky. A 50 gallon pot holds a full mash, and the thumper raises the proof while keeping the grain flavor.
- Rum: big molasses washes run steadily, and you can charge the 10 gallon thumper to push more character into the spirit.
- Brandy: fruit comes in all at once. A large pot lets you run the season's wine while it's fresh.
- Schnapps and fruit spirits: same reasoning, with copper helping clean up the vapor.
- Vodka and gin: a pot-and-thumper setup favors flavor. For neutral spirit, plan on several passes.
The Lab Gets Bigger
Scale changes the experiment. More liquid in the pot means more time to watch the heat, more vapor through the thumper and more distillate to split into heads, hearts and tails. The 10 gallon worm gives all that vapor plenty of room to cool and condense. You still make every call, with more riding on each run and more to learn from it.

Owning a still is legal in the US. Producing alcohol requires a federal TTB permit, and you must follow federal, state and local law.
